Your First Visit

When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms that will allow us to begin your dental treatment. From iPad to encrypted storage your healthcare information is safe.

We will listen very carefully to your concerns and expectations. The clinical comprehensive examination will begin with a discussion of your medical history. Soft tissue in your mouth will be assessed for signs of oral cancer and precancerous states. We will analyze your bite (occlusion), determine whether tooth decay (dental caries) is present, and evaluate your periodontal (gum) health. To assist with these evaluations, we will acquire state of the art diagnostic information about your teeth and supporting bones by taking a series of digital radiographs, limiting your exposure to radiation to a small fraction of what traditional X-ray films may require.

Dr. Nurminsky will evaluate the collected information to determine whether problems exist and if so, which approaches are indicated for correction. Condition of your oral health and recommended treatments will be reviewed and fully discussed with you. Our goal is to help you make an informed decision which option is best for you. We will also assist in understanding insurance coverage and payment methods.

Your initial appointment in most cases will include a cleaning and brightening of your smile. Oral hygiene steps to maintain your health will be tailored to your specific needs and explained by one of our Registered Dental Hygienists. She will also establish a re-care schedule to help you maintain a healthy smile for life.

We welcome questions and look forward to seeing you.
